On Saturday, August 31 a tour guide lead guests on a journey through the castle that resonated deeply for participants who experienced site-specific art performance installations. Trails & Vistas Founder and Artistic Director Nancy Tieken Lopez partnered with Choreographer Elizabeth Archer, local castle owner Daniela Garofalo, winery owner Sabine Ehrmann of Tenuta Tenaglia, along with artists to curate and choreograph each experience in order to effectively develop Arte e Vistas inspiring creative exchange. Collaborators include; installation artist Nancy Lopez collaborating with daughter and artist Siena Lopez, guitarist Lucas Arizu, The Amazing Bubble man Lois Pearl, harpist Motoshi Kosako, dancers Jack Blackmon, Ashley Celaya and Tony Nguyen of TwoPoint4 Dance Theatre, performance installation artist Angelique Benicio, Amelie Benicio, with music by Jet Black Pearl. Participants learned about local culture and architecture insights of the castle led by California Polytechnic University Architecture Professor Tom Di Santo. On Sunday, September 1, 2024 artists performed at the stunning winery of Tenuta Tenaglia. Several films will feature the landscape of Italy with the original site specific performance installations to be released in 2025.
Arte e Vistas Italy Residence Collaborations
Bridging cultures together through the arts
The Artist Residence will provide an opportunity to promote global human interaction and provide artists, scholars, and other creative professionals the time, space, and resources to work individually and collectively, bridging an alliance between California and Italy creative communities.
The Arte e Vistas, a walking Art Tour set in a castle in the small town of Balzola in Northern Italy. Castle performances will feature award-winning musicians, dancers, and installation artists working with the theme The Lore We Share. Castle Balzola is located north of the Po River near the rolling hills of the UNESCO World Heritage site in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. Balzola is at the near center-point between Milan, Turin and Genoa. The Tenuta Tenaglia Winery was the second site of pefromances and site specific art installations at Serralunga, Di Crea, Northern Italy
